Palin and Evangelicalism

Palin is not only the only politician since TR to know how to properly field dress a moose, she is also a strong evangelical with what I consider to be alarming views about the world.

Assemblies of God list of Beliefs. It includes speaking in tongues, divine healing of the sick, the rapture, final judgment, and a new heaven and a new earth.

Assemblies of God Wasilla, Alaska page here. Watch out for the kids who are on fire. I particularly like this place where they try to explain what their pastor meant when he claimed that if anyone voted for John Kerry in 2004, he would QUESTION THEIR SALVATION.

Here's a video of her speaking at her home church in which she states that the people of Alaska have to pray together in order to get the proposed oil pipeline built. Later, she describes the war in Iraq as 'God's work'.

The Times had an interesting piece on Palin's worldview and how it relates to her faith.

Finally, Wired reports on Palin's desire to have evolution and ID taught together in science classes. While this is not surprising, it is very depressing.
